Veneered cabinet with glass display case Japanese chesnut, slippery elm, glass Handmade brass hinges and handles made of mountain mahogany This is the second piece of furniture I made at the Krenov School in Fort Bragg, California. I saw this piece of Japanese Chesnut in the school wood store and fell in love with the ethereal quality of the wood. I designed this cabinet in response to the wood and with a desire to show off the shimmery grain pattern and tonal range. The wood is finished all over with shellac.
